The K-Summit is the ultimate snow chain on the market today. The K-Summit is uniquely designed to ride on only the external surfaces of the tire so you don't need to worry about clearance issues on the inside of the tire or interference with ABS braking, suspension or steering components. This review is for the XXL K67 size for a p245/65/17 tire on a Ford Explorer. I have to descend a steep hill every morning on my drive into town that is sometimes very icy. I bought these chains because they are easy to put on and take off with the hopes that I would use them more often rather than just take my chances. I removed one yellow tension element as per the included instruction for my tire size and they fit perfectly. I jacked my car up in the garage and test fit them by hand the first time. When I next installed them without the aid of a jack, I had to gently kick the bottom two plates to get them started under the edge of the tire because the XXL size has five traction plate arms (rather than the four that you see pictured for the smaller sizes) therefore the spacing is closer. Those two bottom plates only went about halfway onto the tire but after driving down my 300' driveway in 5" of snow, I stopped for an inspection to find that they had finished installing themselves. The traction and braking were excellent. The ride was smoother than with the Z-chains I've used with other vehicles.

I was going to Lake Tahoe for a dance competition and there was chance of snow so I decided to buy these for my BMW. I'm I glad I did. 30 miles from my hotel and everyone was being stop and told either put on chains or go back. I had already practiced putting these on, so I would know how to install them and make sure I had the right lug adapter. I do recommend this. It took all of 10 - 15 minutes, in the snow, to install them and I was on my way. Easy to put on and take off and no need to jack up your car. These are great if you have low profile tires, very little clearance between the tire and car, and expensive wheels you don't want to damage.

These chains work great! The initial fitting and ajustments takes some time, so I would recommend getting these to fit correctly while at home before a trip to the snow. I did not find any instructions on how to adjust these to fit, so I used what made sense to me. I did adjust the arms out one notch and removed two of the yellow tension springs. I did this after about two hours of trying to put them on the tires and driving around and making additional adjustments.

Once they fit, they go on without a problem and when obeying the speed limit of 30mph while the chains are on, I had absolutely no issues. Honestly, I did drive up to 35mph and no issues still, but the 4WD vehicles were losing control.

I had my chains on quickly and back off in no time. No reaching around tires, no need to kneel, and very little effort to put on or take off the tires. I only hope they last a few seasons for this price, having the grey plastic on the arms and holding the chain in place is my only concern. But if your strut is close to the inside tire wall like mine are there are few options out there. By the way, check to make sure the lug nut adapters that come with the chains fit your lug nuts before ordering the suggested 21mm adapters... there is a $5+ restocking charge if you return the adapters.
