Bona Stone, Tile, Laminate Spray Mop Starter Set w/ 2 Cartridges (3 Total Cartridges) Review by James Groves "Yoga DADA" (Wash, DC)

Not a mopper - but this is so easy and dare I say fun (?) that even the kids want to help. Bought it for our kitchens and baths - but following a basement flood it was great for doing the final mop up - got up all the grit and left the floors shining.

Bona Stone, Tile, Laminate Spray Mop Starter Set w/ 2 Cartridges (3 Total Cartridges) Review by Lexi's Mom

I like this mop. It's of good quality and sturdily built. The mop is heavy enough that the cleaning pad doesn't pop up off the floor like I've found happens with Bona's other mop. My only complaint is that the cartidge is quite small and relatively costly. I have a lot of wood floor to clean and I burn through one cartidge quite quickly. It's definitely more expensive than purchasing the mop with a separate spray bottle but much more convenient.

Bona Stone, Tile, Laminate Spray Mop Starter Set w/ 2 Cartridges (3 Total Cartridges) Review by Liliana "maccentris" (Philadelphia, PA United States)

Just for the record "You purchased this item on March 24, 2009" which means this mop has been in our possession for one year. We're 12 days away now.

At first the mop was everything it advertised. Alas, the functions of this mop don't last. The spray handle itself started to give me problems 3-4 months after purchase. It became stuck every now and then. Now it stays in.

If that wasn't enough of a big problem with this mop, the mat at the bottom lately seems to push the particles rather than pick them up at all. I could order a new mat for the bottom, but with a troublesome spray-handle what's the use? No spray, no point to own this mop.

I had to resort to wetting the floor myself the last few months I used it, I even used my own tile spray. The mop still has the third bottle that it came with, why? Because most of the times I was using my own spray/cleaner to clean the floor with, due to the handle not working.

I don't see how we could help the condition of the mop now. It's strong, sturdy, but the handle is and always was a problem. Can't have a good product if it can't last at least a year. =/

How the Dog Became the Dog: From Wolves to Our Best Friends Customer reviews

How the Dog Became the Dog: From Wolves to Our Best Friends Review by applewood (everywhere and nowhere)

The latest copy of the Wall Street Journal had a great summary of this book - which unfortunately has not gotten the accurate and positive reviews it deserves on Amazon yet.

From the Journal's excerpt it is clear this is a well written and engaging account of the human/dog relationship, going back much, much further than the 15 to 17,000 years conventional archaeology ascribes. Using a broader base of DNA testing and earlier archaeological evidence (placing the beginnings of the domestication process at least twice as far back with widely dispersed wandering hunter/gatherers instead of settled humans), Derr's account makes it clear that this co-evolution is both ongoing, beneficial and profoundly transformative for both sides.

I look forward to reading more of this fascinating story - no matter what format it may be....

(ps. follow up note on 11/08/11;

I just heard an interview with the author on NPR today, and it sounds like the story of social dog-wolf/human interaction/evolution is rich with detail (plenty enough to fill a whole book, apparently a concern of some people who are worried this new book is just a padded magazine article). Basically he is presenting a controversial theory that humans had less to do with the domestication of dogs (via selectively choosing docile/immature traits), than natural selection for cooperation between the two super social species.

As Derr puts it in the WSJ article, "The standard explanation was that once the dump-diver became a dog, humans took charge of its evolution through selective breeding, choosing those with desired traits and culling those who came up short. This account is now falling apart in the face of new genetic analyses and recently discovered fossils. The emerging story sees humans and proto-dogs evolving together: We chose them, to be sure, but they chose us too, and our shared characteristics may well account for our seemingly unshakable mutual intimacy. Dogs and humans are social beings who depend on cooperation for their survival and have an uncanny ability to understand each other in order to work together. Both wolves and humans brought unique, complementary talents to a relationship that was based not on subservience and intimidation but on mutual respect."

What is interesting about this to me is that it pushes the date of this early interaction much further back than previously accepted, and makes for dogs selecting for our traits as much us of theirs.

It's easy to take dogs for granted today, and see it only from the master's point of view, but besides their obvious companionship and work duties, I've heard elsewhere that basic domestication of herding animals would never have happened without them. This is just one hint at how they have molded our evolution. Obviously we have had a hand in selecting for all the variety of breeds, but I think we humans have been changed fundamentally by dogs as well (perhaps in such traits as our desire and ability to play and be emotionally open long past our childhood, especially for men). When and how this happened is fascinating. And as far as I can tell it's still happening.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a reader review on Amazon yet from someone who's actually read this book. It seems like it's getting a lot of exposure in the media, and stirring up some strong opinions...our evolution after all is a profound subject.)

How the Dog Became the Dog: From Wolves to Our Best Friends Review by Kevin Behan

If one wants to understand the nature of dogs, this is a must read. First of all, beware critical reviews that fail to address the specifics of the argument Derr is making, which he backs up with the latest science woven into a logical train of speculation, the connective tissue in any theory, and which is clearly delineated as such. These critics use a vague complaint in lieu of critical argument. Expect a lot of resistance to Derr's thesis due to the current state of political correctness in dogdom which is trying to write the wolf out of the domestic dog's makeup, most especially to counteract the media phenomenon of Cesar Milan. (Ironically several years ago Mark Derr wrote an Op Ed piece in the NY Times entitled: "Pack of Lies" rebutting Milan's approach.) This is straight science by an accomplished scientific journalist and if you're willing to consider a fuller as well as the latest findings on how the dog became the dog, this book should sit right next to Coppinger's "Dogs" in your library. And then let them have at it in your mind.

How the Dog Became the Dog: From Wolves to Our Best Friends Review by Patsy Mac

Mr. Derr's book shows an excellent understanding of dogs, dog behavior and dog/human evolution. It is a well written and cogent review of the science of dog evolution. I've been deeply involved with dogs for years. I have bred and raised many puppies. This book increased my understanding of dog evolution, breeding and behavior. I would highly recommend this book.

This is my first high quality binoculars and I've very impressed with Pentax in the quality of the product. I have other Pentax products and they all seem to be of very high quality and good performance.

The binoculars come in a very nice case that is slightly padded. It also comes with a very nice method of attaching and detaching the neck strap. Instead of having to loop through a small hole like most binoculars, these come with little snap in clips that clip right into the body instantly. You can also detach them quickly as well. Although not necessary, it is a very nice touch and it is the little things in this binocular that I find stand out.

Another nice touch is that the diopter setting for the right eye is in the center of the binocular that stays hidden until you need to adjust. You just push on the "button" and it pops out to let you adjust to your eye. Then you simply push it back in , which has a nice quality snap, and it will stay protected against accidental changes.

The binoculars also allow two eye relief settings. The eye cups pop out to two different heights or can stay flush if needed. Finally, to change the width of the eye distance both pieces bend TOGETHER evenly and smoothly which is nice. Everything feels very solid and seems to have been thought out well in design.

Now onto the quality of view. Excellent. Very impressed. Everything is very clear, sharp and also bright which is good considering this is a 10x25 binocular. Generally 25mm binoculars are dim and worse at higher magnifications. I was debating getting the 8x25 instead to get a brighter image but the optics are very well designed that it picks up light well. For example, compared to my cheap $35 Bushnell Falcon 10x50's, these outperform then in every way except the 50mm has a larger field of view of course. However the image is sharper and brighter in the Pentax. I pointed both at the moon one night to see how much detail I could pick up. The 10x50's did well and kept in focus. The Pentax however showed more detail and texture of the moon and was brighter.

Overall these are very good and well made binoculars and because of the higher quality optics I believe you can get away with the higher magnifications and still get a clear bright image.

Pentax 62212 Review by Chull

Features I am pleased with:
* An affordable, light-weight (10.6 oz) binocular with fully multi-coated optics for hiking, travel or general use including occasional bird-watching (not for tracking birds in flight) during daytime outdoor activities
* One central focusing knob with adjustable diopter ring getting the targets in view quickly
* Eye-relief of 15 mm (14 to 16 mm recommended for eyeglass wearers; other comparable model has only 11.1 mm)
* Exit pupil of 2.5 mm (2 to 4 mm recommended for daytime use)
* Field of view 261 ft (wide enough for 10X magnification power)
* Near focusing distance 6.2 ft (other comparable model has 9.8 ft)
* Tripod socket (nice extra feature for occasions requiring real steady viewing; any tripod with traditional mounting platform works okay without requiring an adapter U suggested)
* A good trade-off between weight, performance and cost

Pentax 62212 Review by Becky Tree (Western PA USA)

I was looking for a binocular under 1 pound that nonetheless had the optical quality of a larger binocular. Consumer Reports recommended this one, and the price was right--in the range of $70-$80. They are indeed lightweight, compact, easy to focus, let in adequate light, and the view is very sharp and clear. My only complaint is that the strap attaches forward of the center of gravity so that the binocular has a tendency to flip upside-down against my bosom. The field of view isn't very big-natch, they're "compact" - so they are good for bird watching, looking at distant details, etc., but I wouldn't recommend them for watching sports. This model is affordable and useful for my modest needs.

This was perfect for my new foam mattress. Feels good and does not make noise. A little large on the fit (most seem to be too tall), but the sheet hides it, anyway.

for 8 years my only problems were caused by not reading the instructions carefully. don't throw them out. now it is starting to act up. possibly battery leakage or just old. outdoor sensor was usually out of direct rain. very accurate with GOOOD batteries. more features than I need. difficult programing is only draw back. telephone help was excellent.

La Crosse Technology TX29UDTH-IT Review by Terry Schuman

If this unit gets wet it is all over until it drys out. Not saying that I left it in pouring rain but it is pretty finicky They should design a little outside house it can stay under.....

La Crosse Technology TX29UDTH-IT Review by Dude (Eastern U.S.)

This was bought as an add-on unit for my weather station that can handle up to three different sensors (I think). I wanted a sensor to monitor my crawl space where I have a dehumidifier and a new insulation job.

This unit powered up and behaved exactly as the instructions explained.

I only gave 4 stars because for some reason the manufacturers made a weather sensor that is apparently not weather proof. You have to keep these out of the sun and rain...These are not sun or rain sensors, but most people wont understand and not be happy with this fact.

I was thinking about getting another one but now it looks like they may be unavailable...I hope not discontinued.

Capezio N14-Black-Large Feedback

Capezio N14-Black-Large Review by Kimberly K. "Shopaholic" (Orange County)

Pros:
Don't have that annoying line near the upper thigh.
Nice and dark black tights.

Cons:
extremely rough to the touch.
Will not be buying again because of that.

I am a former dancer and have been looking for nice black tights to wear during the winter. I get frustrated because spanx and other tights have that built in panty/thigh reducer at the top. Now don't get me wrong, I love that benefit but along with it comes an annoying line across my thigh. It dawned on me my old dance tights dont have that line. And these do not. So for that I am grateful. I will wear these until they wear out. But, these are so NOT soft! :(

I also bought these, they are MUCH softer. I will get these in the future. Capezio Women's Ultra Soft Footed Tight

Capezio N14-Black-Large Review by scandalusz "scandalusz" (Maine, United States)

I'm super tall and heavy, so I bought my usual XXL size, and it was not what most tight-makers would call XXL. It was maybe, maybe XL. Maybe. I tried stretching it out, and then pulling up, and it snagged just like a regular pair of tights. Darn it!

That said, I believe these are ballet tights, and generally dancers are pretty svelte and shortish, so I guess in the ballet world an XXL is a different size scale.

The nude color (technicall "light suntan") would have been great to wear at work, without worrying so much about snags. Would be especially good for people with something to hide on their legs (not shaved, spider or varicose veins, bruises, cuts, etc), while still looking like normal legs, or like pantyhose.

Just size down a bit if you are not actually a dancer.

Capezio N14-Black-Large Review by MissKattt

I can't believe I haven't bought dance tights before. They are so much more durable than regular tights. The sizing is way off though. I'm 5'7 and 140lbs and according to the sizing chart I would have been a medium. Thank god I read other reviews and checked on their website and got the correct sizing chart and ordered an extra large. The tights fit perfect and they are very comfortable. Will definitely buy another pair in black. Also I bought the color caramel in hopes of matching my skin color and it kinda sorta matches (I'm not pale or tan, somewhere in between) but I feel like the tights could have been a shade darker.

Here is the real sizing chart: [...]
I would recommend ordering a size up if you are close to the border just to be safe :)

STERILITE 28308002 Review by R. Racca "Moon Goddess Bookworm" (C/S, CO)

I got these because we're having another baby and she's going to be sharing our room with us this time for the first few months to make it easier on us all. I didn't wanna buy permanent furniture for her yet, though, as she doesn't have her own room, so we got two of these and stacked them in the corner to use them as a makeshift dresser in the meantime. When they're done serving their purpose, I'll utilize them for scrapbooking storage.

I'm also paranoid with babies, so pretty much everything that can tip over is bolted to one or more walls in my home. I treated these no differently. The plastic was thick and sturdy, yet I was able to screw them to the walls by hand to stabilize them. They are, after all, just light plastic full of heavy things so I wanted them to be safe. I bolted each one to the behind wall at the top of each cart, and also bolted them to the wall on the right of the corner through the middle of each cart. You can't even budge them now, and they show no signs of the plastic ripping or breaking so I'm quite pleased.

They hold all of the baby's things to accommodate us nicely and the clear drawers allow for quit identifying of what we need. I am most pleased with this product.

STERILITE 28308002 Review by Elaine D. Hinton

I was looking for a corner shelf unit for our guest apartment's bathroom when a decorator friend suggested these as an alternative. They hold much more and aren't as overwhelming. I stacked the set of 2 and it was only a little higher than the vanity. With the semi-transparent drawers, the units are more serviceable than built-ins.

STERILITE 28308002 Review by Tamela Wade (Florence, AL)

I have other drawer organizers in my craft room so when I ordered this set of drawers I was excepting more than what I already have but I really am impressed with the Sterilite 3-Drawer Cart. The doors slide in and out easily AND the top of the cart is not popping off every time I open the top drawer...and big plus for me and something that has been very aggravating with my other storage drawers. I definitely recommend this product. Its construction is sturdy for this type of product and looks streamlined enough not to look like a plastic container sticking out from the wall.
